It's been over 4 years since I hurt my back.
Now, being a pro wrestler for almost 10 years doesn't help, but in this particular situation I was being a dingle dork and trying to hang with some super strong mates doin' some Friday afternoon deadlifts.
I remember the day well.
It was a Friday, and Valentine's Day. I didn't warm up properly and tried to ramp up my weights too quickly, and I remember feeling a ripping sensation across my lower back and seeing bright white light.
I was done. I wanted to lay on the floor in a little ball and have them carry me home.
And, I can recall so painfully that I had a soft tire going home that day, and it took me an extra 15 minutes trying to unfold myself out of my car, kneel down onto the ground to put air in the tire, then fold myself back into my car to get home.
Ugh. Such a stupid mistake.
Anyways, I deal with my sore back on a near-daily basis. It's gotten a lot better, but there's still a lot I have to avoid so as not to get painful flareups.
One thing I MUST do to keep myself feeling good is a solid warm-up before my lifting sessions.
Today, I want to share a few of my favorite exercises I use to stay loose, mobile, and prep my body for my training sessions.
Watch this 67 second video, and feel free to steal this routine for your own warm-up.
It will take you less than 10 minutes, but you'll feel oh so good.
Try them out and let me know how you like them.
You can do this routine daily if you want, or just before training sessions. It'll leave you feeling flexible, give you better posture, and get you warmed up to rock your workout.
